Testing typography in primary schools

The Typographic Design for Children project asked the following questions:

  • Should children's reading books be set in serif or sanserif typefaces?
  • Are script and informal typefaces more or less effective than conventional typefaces in helping children to learn to read?
  • To what extent does variation in letter, word and line spacing help or hinder children's reading development?
  • Do children learning to read need special typefaces?
